Danburg Properties Tenant Profile: AT-RISK International Brings Global Protective, Investigative Services to Area Executives, High Net Worth Families

When executives from AT-RISK International held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its offices in The Preserve Wednesday, Sept. 11, they introduced the local market to the global protective and investigative services company that works with corporate clients, executives and high net worth individuals.
Yet, for the company’s South Florida and national clients, no introduction was necessary. Since 2003, AT-RISK has provided global threat and risk assessment and executive protective services to individuals who work and live in an increasingly complex and risky world, says Chuck Tobin, founder and president of AT-RISK.
The company decided to move to South Florida as a way to serve area clients and prospects, as well as those who travel from or through the area on their way to Latin America. AT-RISK arrived in Boca Raton from Chantilly, Virginia, this spring; Tobin now calls himself a resident.
For Tobin, opening AT-RISK was a logical transition from a career in private and corporate sector executive security and investigations. Today, he and his 50 employees, with the aid of partnerships, provide services globally in the U.S., Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America. An emerging market will be Brazil, which is slated to hold the Olympic Games in 2016.
Some client assignments are for days or weeks, some he’s handled for years, says Tobin, an industry pioneer who recently was seated as president of Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, a group of 1,000 law enforcement, prosecutors, investigators and forensic psychiatrists.
Among his offerings: Corporate, executive and VIP security, threat and risk assessment, investigations and counter-surveillance, facility and special event security, and workplace violence prevention programs, providing guidance on the crossover of domestic violence into the workplace.
But why Boca Raton? It’s “a great connection point to South America,” he says, and is part of his pre-Olympic expansion plans. The city is home to many CEOs, as well as high net worth individuals and families, for whom AT-RISK created a Family Safety Program that’s available on his website.
Moreover, his office in Danburg Management of Boca Raton’s The Preserve location at 7700 Congress Avenue puts him seconds from Interstate 95 and minutes from Palm Beach International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. He also is close to area FBOs, or fixed base operations and executive airports, like Boca Raton Airport and Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. When a site selection broker was scouting office locations earlier this year, Tobin found The Preserve safe with great exposure, and the Danburg Properties team to be accommodating to his needs.
“We found South Florida and the Americas to be an ideal growth markets for AT-RISK, and Boca Raton was ideally suited to help us meet our clients’ and prospective clients’ needs now and in the future,” Tobin says. “The team at Danburg Properties helped us through the business relocation process and helped create the perfect new home for AT-RISK International.”
